I have beem playing and GMing TTRPGs for almost 30 years. This is by far one of the best expansions/supplements I have ever bought! It has exactly all the things I found myself lacking and dreaming of with the core set. It even managed to exceed my expectations by delivering a lot more stuff that I was looking forward for (items, adversaries, environments). The campaign frames are all of them very inspiring and good examples for brewing your own campaigns even though I haven't used those myself (yet).

An absolute must buy for DH lovers!

It is a beautiful extension so far. I'm still in the process of trying out the original version of Daggerheart and I'm absolutely loving it. But I already can't wait to integrate Hope & Fear as well.
I think it's great how it expands the whole game world without constantly adding detailed extra rules, keeping everything intuitive and streamlined.

Ordered 2 copies of the pre-order, and own 2 copies of the original. Am big fan of what there exists of Daggerheart so far. Hope & Fear is a good expansion, with new classes, species, ancestries, transformations, a new domain, new monsters, etc. High quality everything.

I have two notes, one specifically on Hope & Fear, the other on the online shop and what is available.

a) The original game had 2 copies of each card in each order. This expansion has only 1 copy, and this is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The original release set expectations. Tsk tsk.

b) Not having the dry erase character sheets that one can purchase independently of the card folio (I bought that too) and in quantity is a let down. I'd love to be able to have all that are necessary to run a session in my hands, both for the players and for recurring NPCs. Please reconsider this.

With Hope & Fear, Daggerheart's toolkit for fantasy adventure gaming is complete. The art is gorgeous, but more importantly the content will help people transitioning from other games find familiar touchstones rendered into Daggerheart's excellent system. The new campaign frames have more detail and more support for starting a game in that setting.

An amazing addition to the core rulebook, adding the Daggerheart flavor to an expanding list of familiar RPG elements! Highly anticipated classes and ancestries are now official (Gnome Moon Witch, here I come!), while a hoard of cool and fearsome new creatures are presented with which to fill our fantasy realms.

As a GM whose brain-goblins tend to favor crunchier RPG systems - math, and even sometimes reverse math - I do wish more clarification on balanced creature creation was explored in this book to help those who worry about over-and-underpowering encounters, but regardless the wait for "Hope & Fear" was well worth it.

The art is, again, stunning. Absolutely gorgeous works from penciled character sketches to landscape imagery I would love to decorate my house with fill the pages of this expansion. The transformation mechanic is such an exciting way to handle subjects I've been trying to smoothly implement into games for years to rarely successful results, so I applaud the work put into making it so fun and easy to grasp.

Happy to add "Hope & Fear" to my RPG shelf, and even more excited to get the group together to explore everything it has to offer. Keep up the good work! <3

Its everything i could have hoped for and more. Can't wait for the next official expansion.

In 30+ years of tabletop gaming, Daggerheart has given more memorable table moments than anything else I've played. So, there is my bias laid bare. That said, after over 100 hours at the table with Core and Void content, I did not expect H&F to iterate or improve much upon the Core experience.

Despite my strong feelings toward the system, the Core set did have some issues. Specifically, the box and overall quality of the Deluxe set suffers over the long term, and while I am homebrewing content, the frames were thinner than many hoped. Hope and Fear Deluxe brings a much improved case, excellent pack-ins, and much more details Frames.

While this is on the Standard Set link, as I ordered Deluxe through my Beacon account, both sets are spectacular and well worth the purchase if you are a fan of the Core set or even if you are looking to get started. The tweaks to the character options from Void content are all solid, thoughtful changes; balancing power and flavor.

From a broader experience, this is the most well-designed supplemental book of any system I've ever read. The flow is intuitive, the art and content are so well done, and it compliments Core so well. I would quit my job if I could survive on playing Daggerheart.

I've been entirely blown away by this book. The new character options are brilliant, the items are fun, the campaign frames incredibly well fleshed out, and the adversaries are both inventive and numerous. This gives me everything I want and more.

If I was to really search for critiques then I fires my biggest one as that I'm not especially impressed by the hedge witch. A Hedge Mage is such a brilliant fantasy staple, and this came away as feeling like more of a grab-bag of random witchy features rather than a subclass about subverting established casting norms and creating your own style of magic. Still, if my biggest gripe is a single subclass not perfectly fitting my exact vision for a particular theme, I'd call that a success. My players are ravenously tearing into the book, and I'm so excited that everything arrived early!

I'll finish my review by just touching on what I think might be one of the most emotionally impactful snippets I've read, and yet that I don't think I've seen anyone else even mention. I absolutely love the Reborne community. This is for a character that has been isolated from their community and now finds themselves more defined by the people around them. What I find especially touching though was seeing how you could make the choice to eventually adopt a new community... or even swap to this after losing your connection to your original community. The fact this option exists adds so much more meaning to every aspect of play. When an Orderborne watches their city burn to the ground and decide NOT to swap to Reborne, that decision suddenly carries weight. The player is declaring that even if their community is lost, they still carry its impact with them. This little page-long community actually got me a bit weepy.

The entire book is filled with so many wonderful little bits like that. This is the perfect expansion not because it simply adds so much (though it does do that, too). This is perfect because so much of what it adds just adds to the richness of everything Daggerheart already provided us. Everyone involved in this project should take a bow and pat themselves on the back.

All of the components are high quality, and the same quality of the original set. This expansion gives my table top an expansion that includes almost all of the aspects of the game. It's Daggerheart times 2. If you want to expand your game, this is the way to do it.

Everything about Hope and Fear has been stunning and exciting! If you're a Daggerheart fan, this is a must have for even more incredible ways to accent your game and the campaign frames as well as the environments and adversary options open up so many new interesting ways to challenge your players! GM's it's a no brainer, it's a permanent addition to my growing Daggerheart collection.

Came early and in perfect condition! Mechanics wise, very excited for this expansion which had noticeable improvements to the void playtest classes, as well as introduces transformations, which my table will be putting to good use starting this fall. Can’t wait for daggerheart’s next expansion!

The art is beautiful. I especially enjoy the attention to detail regarding the various art concepts for the vampire/ancestry combinations. The amount of items, consumables, and adversaries give much more variety when paired with the core rulebook. This is an excellent addition to core.

Absolutely love everything about this expansion. More of the game I already fell in love with? Yes please! From the art to the content, everything makes this homebrewing GM so happy.

I'm happy with the new features and spells this brings to the game. It will help my players characters and my own characters as well.

The book(s), yes I ordered both versions, looked and felt amazing, I seriously have no complaints, and the fact that I was able to get it a month before official release is mind blowing! Thank you so much folks at darrington press and critical role. Also please make the pencil sketches in the book full posters, like I’m begging you just take my money I need it. I love the new rules and options, but as a Spaniard from Andalucia, you have no idea of how many funny options this setting is going to provide. From Chiquito de la Calzada's Condemor to the bandits of Curro Jimenez or Karate a muerte en Torremolinos, the absurdity will be huge. Thanks for this book!
