For the Queen

Sale price $24.99

Hear ye, hear ye: Your Grace is primed for her voyage, and has chosen you to accompany her! For the Queen is a card-driven collaborative storytelling game that invites you to tell a dramatic narrative about a Queen’s journey with you, her companions. What will you learn about her (and yourself) along the way? And in the end, will you stand for or against her?

Get started by choosing your Queen from among 25 lavishly illustrated Queen cards—or create your own! Launch into gameplay in minutes with the guided Rules cards, then read and answer the Question cards to develop a world, your characters, and their relationships with each other and the Queen. Ultimately, answer the final question: when your Queen is attacked, do you defend her?

This is the second edition of the beloved indie storytelling game created by Alex Roberts, a Diana Jones Award-winning designer, with a completely new visual design, more elegant packaging, and added cards and all-new Queen illustrations from a diverse team of talented artists.

What’s Inside:

The 91 cards come in a travel-ready box with a ribbon perfectly placed for easy card removal, making this game ideal for on-the-go gameplay at a convention, around a campfire, or waiting in line at the DMV! With 25 uniquely illustrated Queens to inspire you, and taking place in any genre or setting you choose, you’ll never tell the same tale twice.

Amazing father's day gift

Bought this for my partner for father's day. We opened it early and played with our 10 yr old daughter and all had a blast. Our daughter loved being able to make her character as we went. She ended up being the queens cat! We've played almost every night since we got it. Can't recommend it enough!

I would defend this game to my dying breath

I hate long reviews -- just tell me if I should buy the thing, amirite? So tl;dr - you SHOULD BUY THIS GAME.

The much longer, probably rambling review is this: everything about this game is wonderful. We already know that Critical Role puts so much love into their products and this is no exception. The high points:

- The packaging: the deck box is designed to look like a storybook COMPLETE with a red-ribbon bookmark which can be used to pull the card deck out ensuring they never get stuck. Incredible. It closes with a magnetic latch which is just *chef's kiss* AND even the interior is gorgeous - with the game introduction written on the inside fold out page like the first page of a FairyTale and the Credits at the bottom of the box's interior itself. Every inch of this product is art, speaking of which:

-The Art: the QUEENS are incredible!! I am never NOT astounded by CR's ability to source incredible artists, each with such unique styles that mean every single game truly feels completely different. And they are so well credited throughout the process meaning you can easily find your favorite cards' artist and follow them to support their careers! The queens, the art concepts, the backgrounds, the colors... every card is worthy of framing on a wall and every person I've shown the Queen deck to has inevitably wanted to buy their own copy just to own the art.

-The game and play: This is such a simple game with SUCH depth waiting inside of the stories you will tell at your tables. The rules literally take less than 5 minutes to read and understand as a full table and then you are off, building your story with your friends. AND it's one of those games you could play solo, as just a couple or in a huge group which makes it so versatile.

- The Questions and Storytelling: The questions are SO dynamic, so thought provoking and so beautifully worded that they make you think in completely new ways about the story you're building together. I have played this game several times and the story is always SO different and every person has walked away surprised at how the story progressed. I have recently gotten a couple of friends who never tackled Table Top RPG into Daggerheart and one of them has been intimidated by the Role playing and Improv aspects - so I offered to play this game with him and it's like the concept itself clicked immediately for him - you learn your character as you PLAY. And his improv skills got SO drastically better immediately - so much so, that he himself noticed and wanted to play again and again to get more practice!

-The Summary: get this game. Get your friends this game, get your mom this game, get your therapist this game and play it. It's so well made and literally everyone I have played it with has gotten their own copy now and it's only been out a few weeks. Thanks Darrington Press for making such a great game.

TL;DR - hahahahaha my bad

Amazing Game!

The whole game is so beautifully designed, you just have to pick it up when it's lying around <3 The game is really fun, especially for people who love roleplaying and world building. Also works wonderfully when you are just two people. We sometimes play it when there is no time for DnD and everyone loves it. At first it takes a bit longer to find answers but after a two or three rounds the world and characters come to life by themselves! There are plenty of questions and they are nice diverse. And because of its simple design its also very easy to modify it for other circumstances. Very well done!

Excellent

Arrived fast, great quality. Wonderful customer service.

Very good quality, but the game heavily relies on you to be fun since it has no narrative. Since I don't trust my family to make it fun, I now use the game for character building!

Absolutely loved this game and have played it almost daily since gifting it for christmas

One of the finest examples of examples storytelling in the form of a simple deck of cards. There is NO limit to the roleplaying opportunities these cards presents, and it's so easy to recontextualize anything about the Queen into whatever you want.

I actually use the deck as a means of travel in Daggerheart campaigns by drawing 5 cards and then shuffle the "Queen is under attack" card into it as a means of triggering combat encounters, and the rest are roleplay opportunities.

One of my favorite decks of cards I purchased and I have no regrets.

Collaborative Gaming FTW

I have only played For The Queen once, and immediately bought my own copy because this game is right up my alley. Thank you for creating more games where collaboration and fun are prioritized over competition! <3

Phenomenal game! My friend has a copy, and I had to get one for myself. The art is so beautiful, and no two game sessions are ever alike. Wonderfully creative!

Sleeper hit

Art and the box design are awesome. Game itself is a gateway drug into ttrpgs. Just story telling, no stats, no skills, no rules to remember. Pick a card, anwser the question. The more questions people anwser the better the game gets! And it is so small, you can take it anywhere!

We have played it with friends and they loved it too. I love how easy the set up is and how open the questions are, which makes the direction of the game change for one time to the next. It’s also very fun to see people instantly get better in role playing after just one game. It’s a game I’m sure I will be playing a lot.

Great Storytelling Game

This game is so much fun. It can be a little awkward at first, but as people pull questions and build their characters, it gets more and more fun.

Quick story telling

We have enjoyed the simple rules set and the fun of cooperative storytelling that comes very quickly. Players must have a passion for storytelling and theater of the mind. I love that I get to play and doesn't leave anyone stuck holding the DM bag. For added fun and confusion, in occasionl games, we add random rolls that force players to change characters and keep the story flowing as their new identity based on what the previous player had already built.

Good entry into RP

I got this game for my boyfriend to introduce him to roleplaying games. I‘ve been playing DND for a few years and he‘s been wanting to know how you really embody a character and do worldbuilding. He loves it and is really getting out of his shell. The questions are well designed to make you think about how you want this story to go. Additionally, the art is amazing and the game is overall very high quality.
One caveat I‘d highlight is that this game works better if you‘ve already played some rpgs, it’s just necessary to be creative, especially if the first question throws you right into a moral conflict for your character.

Perfect Game for Storytellers

Fun and easy game

I saw the game on “No rolls barred” on youtube and wanted to try it out. At first, everyone was unsure whether they could be so creative with so little information, but after a few prompts, the funniest and craziest stories emerged. Great game with beautifully illustrated cards!

Version 2 looks fab!

I played version 1 of this game recently and had to have a copy. Now I ordered this version (the second edition) and the art work looks stunning!
I haven't played yet but look forward to playing it and seeing if anything else has changed.

Beautiful and Inventive materials

I was pleased with my unboxing of For The Queen. Having the rules on cards that are read aloud to start the game fits perfectly. The box and cards are high quality. Can't wait to try the game with my friends.
