I've been playing TTRPGs for years and have been excited to experience a new one. One that has something unique, immersive and inclusive. Daggerheart absolutely fulfills that and I cannot wait to both experience it as a player and as a DM.
My order was fulfilled with no issues, everything was included and the book and cards are high quality. My main issue is with the game itself and how vague and confused it seems to be. There are multiples of background cards but no multiples of race cards or class cards, what if multiple people want to play the same race or class? The class specific character sheets aren’t included, and there’s too much print space taken over by unnecessary info like pages long examples of play. Range is hard to visualize as is gold. It seems like this was made in an attempt to simplify other prominent fantasy trrpgs by removing rules but the rules provide much needed structure for a game about imagination. This has less rules but also less clarity, and so is more confusing. The vague descriptions of class and race and rules, often relying on “the dm gets to decide” makes this lack a distinct game identity both in mechanics and in setting/vibe. Also, not having the dice included in the core set is a sham.
Let me start by saying that I know this product is NOT for everyone. Its focus is on roleplaying and character immersion. If you are a rules lawyer, dice goblin, murder hobo, or min maxer, you need to skip this product. Having got that off my chest, I'm excited to jump into this game with a group that is wanting to tell a tale. Even if its a short adventure I'm sure that a story will immerge that will call them back again. Production value on the core set is out standing. Great color, gloss paper, book marks, great card stock (being an actual magician I really like the card stock), easy to read font. And my favorite thing, a full PDF of the product!! This way if I need to hand out my book I have a copy on my iPad to reference. But, having said that Derrington Press has a free ez rules copy on their website. So everyone can have a quick set of rules. Plus, with how this game is laid out, there is very little need to look up a rule while playing. (Remember, more role PLAYING, less rules Management.) (And No one likes to be managed.) Wish I could give some feedback on real game play but all I can give is what I've written for YOU dear reader. Excellent set. Artwork is phenomenal throughout and the presentation of the book and the cards is superb. Everything is very well explained and I cant wait to start running a game.

I loved the product I just wished that even the regular set came with character sheets abd maybe a set of dice instead of having to order the limited edition.
