The Candela Obscura Core Rulebook is a fully detailed guide on playing and gamemastering the collaborative investigative horror tabletop roleplaying game. Inside of the Candela Obscura Core Rulebook you’ll discover:

  • 204 detailed pages, with a satin ribbon to keep your place.
  • The core rules to play and create your Candela Obscura investigators and their circles.
  • Over 90 pages detailing the turn of the century-inspired setting of the Fairelands, and in detail the city of Newfaire and the ancient ruins beneath known as Oldfaire.
  • 4 full example assignments for gamemasters to dive in with their players.
  • Over 30 example assignments to explore far-flung corners of the Fairelands and the organizations and people operating within it.
  • An extensive guide to preparing for and gamemastering Candela Obscura.
  • Immersive, in-world ephemera and notes strewn throughout the chapters—illustrations, sketches, research notes, correspondences, advertisements, maps, and more to bring the Fairelands to life.

perfect

I've been using this as my main game to GM and I've had so much fun. Great for spooky ttrpgs and great mechanics to get new ttrpg players invested and understanding how to play

Absolutely stunning design

I love the X-Files meets post WW1 vibe that is Candela Obscura. The core rulebook has fantastic art and detailed lore, with enough information on character types and assignments to run immediately or to inspire your own story. This is the first type of game system that makes me comfortable enough to GM, and I'm excited to get started.

Great for an emerging GM

I am so excited about this book. I've still got so much to read but it is really reassuring as someone who is starting to step into GMing games for my friends. I've been really intimidated to start, but this book has so much wonderful content, instruction, and art that it gives me plenty of ideas and help. Plus it is just a beatifully made book.

The King of Rulebooks

I cannot put into words how much I love the style of this book and that first crack and smell when I opened it was delightful! The rulebook is very descriptive and paints such a horror beauty world. I cannot wait to start playing this game with my friends
